This is the exceedingly rare early pattern, used prior to and during the very early stages of their Vietnam deployment. It features a solid black background with a white border, dating it before late 1964 when the yellow and red stripes of the Republic of Vietnam flag were added. The patch boasts the highly desirable flat "Cut Edge" border. Flawless, unissued New Old Stock (NOS) condition.

A superb example of the scarce Rubberized M3 Medical Bag (Instrument and Supply Set No. 3). Manufactured by Eastern Canvas Products Inc., this waterproof variation was standard issue during the Korean War and early Vietnam era. Unlike many surviving examples, the rubberized fabric on this bag is supple and free of dry rot, and all zippers are fully functional.
