Original Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) | Subdued | Sealed NOS (1970)
Description
A badge earned under fire, preserved in a time capsule.
-
Era & Usage: The Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) is awarded exclusively to infantrymen and Special Forces soldiers who have fought in active ground combat. During Vietnam, shiny silver badges were replaced in the field by these subdued black versions to avoid reflecting light.
-
Design: The 1st Award CIB features a Springfield M1795 musket on a rectangular background, resting on an oak wreath. Matte black finish with dual clutch-back pins for mounting.
-
Dating & Packaging: This item is sold Sealed / Unopened. It remains protected in its original clear plastic wrap. The cardboard backing clearly lists the NSN, the item name ("Badge, Qualification, Subdued, Combat Infantry, 1st Award"), and the crucial Defense Supply Agency (DSA) contract: DSA 100-70-C-1942, dated 10/70.
