Original US Army Rubberized Poncho | Vietnam Era | Deadstock w/ Talcum
Description
Heavyweight protection from the jungles of Southeast Asia.
-
Construction & Material: This is an early-pattern multipurpose poncho made from a heavy base fabric completely encased in thick rubber on both sides. While heavier than later iterations, it was completely impenetrable to monsoon rains.
-
Collector's Dream: The item is unissued. The most striking feature is the thick layer of white talcum powder covering the surface. This powder was applied at the factory to stop the heavy rubber from fusing together (vulcanizing) while sitting in crates. Its presence proves the item's untouched history.
-
Functionality: Features edge snaps and original printed instructions detailing its use as a rain garment, ground sheet, blanket cover, or a makeshift tent.
-
Condition: Perfect New Old Stock (NOS) / Deadstock. No rips, tears, or dry rot. The instructional stamp is highly legible.
