Original 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles" Patch | One-Piece, Cut Edge
Description
The legendary eagle in a sought-after configuration.
-
Unit History: The "Screaming Eagles" are military legends, famous for parachuting into Normandy on D-Day, defending the surrounded town of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge, and fighting fiercely in the jungles of Vietnam (e.g., Hamburger Hill).
-
The "One-Piece" Variant: Standard issues required GIs to sew the AIRBORNE tab and the shield separately. This factory "One-Piece" design connected both parts, saving soldiers time and effort. It is highly prized by collectors today.
-
Construction & Condition: Textbook mid-century US manufacturing. It features an un-merrowed flat edge (Cut Edge) and a classic white return thread ("snowy back") on the reverse. The edges show minor, authentic fraying, indicating it was genuinely sewn onto a combat uniform and later removed.
