This is a highly desirable early 1st Pattern model with an incredibly crisp ink stamp dated September 18, 1959. The suspenders are in absolute New Old Stock (NOS) condition – unissued, unwashed, with stiff canvas, vibrant Olive Drab color, and flawless blackened metal hardware. Harper. The rig consists of a 1960s-produced steel pot (McCord) paired with a Korean War era fiberglass liner (Micarta) – a classic configuration for Vietnam. The liner boasts a beautiful crazed exterior patina and an original pinned rank insignia on the front. A superb named piece ready for research!
A rare and identifiable piece of US Marine Corps history: An original M1 Helmet Liner used at The Basic School (TBS)in Quantico, Virginia. This is the institution where every Marine Officer is trained to be a rifle platoon commander. The liner features a high-gloss finish with a distinctive white tactical stripe and the TBS Unit Crest decal (reading "Esprit, Leadership, Knowledge"). The rear features a hand-painted roster number 350.
