Original Vietnam War US Military I Field Force, Vietnam Subdued Patch | Cut Edge
Description
The corps-level command that ran the war in the Highlands.
-
I Field Force History: Established in 1966 and headquartered in Nha Trang, I FFV was a major corps-level command responsible for all US ground operations in the II Corps Tactical Zone (the Central Highlands). It supervised major operations for legendary units such as the 1st Cavalry Division, 4th Infantry Division, and the 173rd Airborne Brigade.
-
Insignia Symbology: The shield-shaped patch depicts an unsheathed sword pointing upwards (signifying military power) superimposed over a geometric design that forms the Roman numeral "I" in the background.
-
1960s Construction: This piece exhibits textbook mid-1960s US military manufacturing. It features a flat, un-merrowed "Cut Edge" and the highly desirable white return bobbin thread ("snowy back") on the reverse side.
-
Condition: Lightly field-used and uniform-removed. It has a soft feel and minor edge fraying consistent with period wear, giving it excellent combat character.
