Rare Optional Pouch from the SPEAR ELCS system designed specifically for the M249 SAW 200-Round Drum magazine. Never included in standard Basic Kits, these were special-order components issued to USSOCOM machine gunners (Rangers, Green Berets, Navy SEALs). 1 pouche in unissued NOS condition dated 2004!

Description

A true gem for dedicated collectors of early GWOT and turn-of-the-millennium U.S. Special Operations gear. While the smaller 100-round M60/SAW pouches came standard in every SPEAR ELCS Basic Kit, the larger Pouch, Magazine, M-249, 200RD Drum (NSN: 8465-01-A12-9087) was a standalone Optional / Ancillary Component. Because it was never part of any standard issue kit bag, it was ordered in much smaller numbers specifically for automatic riflemen within the 75th Ranger Regiment, US Army Special Forces (Green Berets), and US Navy SEALs.
Engineered by Safariland, this high-capacity pouch holds a full 200-round plastic box magazine ("hard box" or "porkchop" drum) for the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW), though SOF operators also frequently repurposed it as a large General Purpose (GP) or NVG utility pouch.

Key Design Features:

  • Contoured Base with Triple Drainage: The flared bottom is tailored to the footprint of a 200-round drum and features three black-oxide brass drainage grommets for rapid water evacuation during amphibious or riverine operations.
  • Heavy-Duty Retention: Features a full-coverage protective top flap with internal dust/debris gussets, secured by a rugged black side-release Fastex buckle.
  • Direct USSOCOM Contract: Constructed from IR-treated 1000D Cordura nylon in classic M81 Woodland camouflage under contract USZA22-98-D-0008.
