Original Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) | Vietnam Era | S21 Hallmark
Description
A badge earned the hard way.
-
The Prestigious CIB: Established during WWII to recognize the inherent sacrifices of the infantryman, the CIB remains one of the most respected awards in the United States Army.
-
Design Details: Features a silver oak wreath supporting a blue enamel bar (infantry blue) with a silver 1795 model Springfield Arsenal musket.
-
Hallmark Dating: Instead of a WWII "Sterling" mark, this badge features an alphanumeric hallmark "S21 GI" struck into the back. This Institute of Heraldry coding system was introduced in the mid-1950s, making this a textbook Vietnam-era piece.
-
Condition: Standard dual-pin clutch-back design. The badge is in excellent vintage condition with no chipping to the enamel and a nice, honest patina on the silvering.
