Original South Vietnamese ARVN Airborne Jump Wings Woven Patch – Vietnam War
Description
Sourced from an established private collection specializing in Vietnam War insignia and field gear. This piece represents authentic local South Vietnamese production (theater-made / local manufacture), designed specifically for subdued field application as opposed to high-visibility metal dress insignia.
Specific Details, Construction, and Condition
-
Insignia Construction: Finely woven (bevo-style) patch displaying a white parachute canopy with outstretched wings and a gold/yellow star at the base, set against a black rectangular field.
-
Canvas Reinforcement: Due to the delicate nature of thin woven insignia, this patch was period machine-stitched along the border onto a heavy-duty khaki/tan cotton duck canvas backing. This structural reinforcement prevented warping and tearing in harsh tropical environments.
-
Condition: Authentic field-used and uniform-removed condition. Fraying is present along the canvas edges together with thread remnants from operational attachment. The central woven pattern remains sharp and structurally sound.
