A collector's gem from the dawn of airmobile warfare! Up for sale is a genuine 11th Air Assault Division (Test) shoulder patch (SSI) complete with the rare, separate "AIR ASSAULT" tab. This experimental unit existed only briefly from 1963 to 1965 to pioneer and test the revolutionary helicopter assault concepts that would define the Vietnam War. Once proven, the division's assets were absorbed into the famed 1st Cavalry Division. Featuring a classic flat "Cut Edge," this two-piece set is in pristine, unissued condition. This item was sourced directly from Vietnam, adding to its provenance. It is in "Salty" / combat-worn condition, featuring holes near the collar and a missing pocket button. The sleeve shows a distinct "Ghost Patch" outline where insignia was removed. Fits like a US Small.
