Original US Army M16 7-Pocket Bandoleer | 1973 Vietnam Era | NOS
Description
The iconic disposable gear of the jungle grunt.
-
History & Usage: These cotton bandoleers were originally packed and shipped filled with ammunition (either in 20-round magazines or stripper clips). Combat-savvy soldiers in Vietnam often wore several of these crisscrossed over their chests, as they provided much faster access to ammo during a firefight than standard belt pouches. Though technically disposable, they were a grunt favorite.
-
Dating & Markings: Prominently stamped with "CHASE BAG CO." and "7-73-B", a major contractor for these items. The date code places production in July 1973, the final chapter of the Vietnam era.
-
The "Safety Pin" Mod: Still attached to the strap is the original, factory-issued heavy-duty safety pin. Because the strap lacked a buckle, troops would simply fold the fabric and pin it to achieve a tight, customized fit across their chest.
-
Condition: Perfect New Old Stock (NOS). The OD green cotton is clean, vibrant, and free of rips or fraying.
