The vest was tested by the 1st Cavalry Division in Vietnam from January to May 1967, and although it was too heavy for foot mobile operations, it was recommended for personnel involved in escorting convoys and motorized patrols.

A highly desirable Vietnam Era "Private Purchase" Green Beret made by the famous Bancroft Military Capscompany. Distinguished by its yellow/gold lining, this was the preferred headgear for career Special Forces soldiers who wanted a sharper look than the standard issue. Named to "WILSON" on the sweatband. The beret is in very nice condition but features a distinct cigarette burn through the vinyl liner, adding undeniable character and history. Size approx 7 1/4.

Finding indigenous gear in this state of preservation is exceptionally rare. This pack features the classic two-pocket design and the distinctive metal "X-Frame" suspension system. Condition Note: The pack is missing the side utility straps. The metal hardware shows oxidation/verdigris consistent with long-term storage.
A true museum piece for the Vietnam War collector: An original "DRAFT COPY" of the Preliminary Operation and Maintenance Manual for the Submachine Gun, 5.56-MM, XM177E2. Published by Rock Island Arsenal in July 1967, this provisional manual was issued in very limited numbers to Special Operations units (MACV-SOG, Navy SEALs, LRRPs) alongside the first batches of the weapon. Unlike standard field manuals, this "Draft" represents the weapon's testing phase in combat.
