Original US Army "Jungle Expert" Patch | Cut Edge | Vietnam Era
Description
Proof of mastering the jungle.
-
JOTC History: The Jungle Expert patch is tied to the famed Jungle Operations Training Center at Fort Sherman, Panama. During the Vietnam War, the Army sent thousands of troops there to learn survival, navigation, and combat tactics in dense rainforests before deploying to Southeast Asia.
-
Design: Full-color embroidery featuring a blue background, a white silhouette of the Isthmus of Panama, a red compass rose, and an integrated "JUNGLE EXPERT" top tab.
-
Early Manufacturing (Cut Edge): This patch features a raw, un-merrowed cut edge. This detail, along with the white bobbin thread on the reverse, firmly dates it to the authentic Vietnam-era production period.
-
Condition: Mint New Old Stock (NOS). Never sewn on, with perfectly bright colors and no damage.
-
Placement: Soldiers proudly wore this qualification patch on the left breast pocket (or pocket flap) of their jungle fatigues.
