French Indochina War "Gurkha" Cotton Beret – Jungle Issue – Rare – Size 52
Description
During the Indochina campaign (1946-1954), French forces (CEFEO) found that standard wool berets were unbearable in the heat and humidity. The "Gurkha" beret emerged as a practical solution. Its name derives from the resemblance to the soft construction of British/Gurkha bush hats used in the theater. These berets were prized by Commandos, Paratroopers, and Foreign Legionnaires for their breathability and quick-drying properties compared to wool. Finding one in this condition is exceptional.
