Description

This is a "time capsule" item for the serious gas mask collector. We present a US M9A1 Field Protective Mask in a condition that is virtually impossible to find today. The mask retains its original cardboard face formers (stiffeners) and the factory retention string. These items were universally discarded upon issuance, making this survival extremely rare. The facepiece rubber is pristine, retaining its factory grey color, soft texture, and displaying no signs of UV damage or cracking. The "60" stamp indicates production around 1960, placing this firmly in the Cold War / Pre-Vietnam era. The kit is complete with the correct M11 Canvas Carrier (stamped "M-L" on the flap) and a sealed can of Anti-Dim Cloth. The M9A1 features the cheek-mounted canister design, developed to allow soldiers to aim their rifles effectively.
