Original WWII 5th Infantry Division "Red Diamond" Patch | Cut Edge
Description
A simple design representing massive firepower.
-
Unit History: The 5th Infantry Division fought its way across Europe during WWII. They landed at Utah Beach shortly after D-Day, fought the bitter Battle of Metz, crossed the Rhine, and saw heavy combat during the Battle of the Bulge under Patton's Third Army.
-
Design: The patch features a striking, solid red diamond, a design that earned them the nickname "Red Devils."
-
WWII Construction: This piece exhibits standard 1940s production hallmarks: it is fully machine-embroidered, features an un-merrowed flat "Cut Edge," and the reverse displays the classic white return thread ("snowy back").
-
Condition & Provenance: The patch is unissued and the front is exceptionally clean with bright color. It was previously mounted on a display board, leaving a small white spot of mounting putty/glue right in the center of the reverse. This does not affect the display value and adds old-collection provenance.
