Original WWII USN Mark 1 Knife (Ka-Bar) w/ Field Modified Scabbard
Description
The trusted workhorse of the US Navy.
-
Mark 1 History: Issued extensively during WWII as a general-purpose deck and utility knife. Its size made it perfect for everyday tasks and close-quarters combat if necessary.
-
Blade & Markings: The Bowie blade is in excellent shape with a clean surface. It is clearly stamped on the ricasso: "USN" on one side and "KA-BAR / OLEAN, N.Y." on the other.
-
Handle: The stacked leather handle is solid, smooth, and free of cracks. It shows typical green verdigris (brass oxidation) near the pommel, an authentic sign of age. The pinned steel pommel is completely secure.
-
Scabbard & Unique Mod: The original gray-green fiberglass scabbard features the steel throat stamped "U.S.N. MK 1" on the front and "NORD-6804 / B.M.CO. / VP" on the back. The original canvas hanger tore and was replaced by a fantastic personalized modification: a riveted leather retention strap with a civilian snap closure. This tells a story of genuine use and resourcefulness.
