Original US SDU-5/E Distress Marker Light (1972) w/ Original Battery & Pouch | Vietnam / SOG / LRRP
Description
Essential survival and special ops equipment.
-
The SDU-5/E Strobe: A compact, waterproof marker light that emits intense flashes visible from great distances. This example features a crisp, legible label indicating a 1972 contract by Neo-Flasher. The orange body and clear dome are in excellent condition.
-
Historical Use: While standard issue for aircrews, ground recon teams (SOG, LRRP) carried these on their web gear to guide in "dust off" helicopters or mark friendly positions for close air support during night engagements.
-
Rare Original Battery: The set includes the original mercury battery, the BA-1574/U (1971 contract). These batteries have been out of production for decades. Finding one intact and uncorroded significantly boosts the collector value of this rig.
-
The Pouch: Includes the correct olive drab nylon pouch with a snap closure and web loop for attaching to load-bearing equipment.
-
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. Please Note: Because the vintage battery is obsolete and potentially depleted, the functionality of the strobe is untested. Sold strictly for collector/display purposes.
