Original US Army MAAG Patch (Military Advisors) | Cut Edge | Vietnam Era
Description
The history of the "Advisors" embroidered on a blue shield.
-
MAAG History: Before the massive influx of US combat troops into Vietnam, the mission was handled by military advisors under MAAG-V. Their goal was to train and equip the South Vietnamese Army (ARVN). Wearing this patch meant you were part of the pioneering effort in Southeast Asia.
-
Design: The 13 white stars on a blue background represent the original 13 US colonies. Soldiers would sew an arc tab indicating their specific country of assignment right above the flat top of the shield.
-
Early Manufacturing (Cut Edge): Featuring a raw, un-merrowed cut edge and classic white bobbin thread on the reverse, this patch is definitively dated to the authentic late 1950s/early 1960s production era.
-
Condition: Mint, unissued condition. No fraying, no fading, simply perfect.
