Original "U.S. AIR FORCE" Branch Tape | Theater-Made (Vietnam) | Used
Description
The ultimate detail for a battle-hardened uniform restoration.
-
History & Usage: US Air Force personnel deployed to Southeast Asia frequently purchased locally made insignia from tailor shops just outside their airbases in Vietnam, Thailand, or Japan. These "in-country" variations are highly prized by collectors today for their unique, individualized craftsmanship.
-
Theater-Made Construction: Unlike pristine US-made tapes, this piece has raw character. The black letters are slightly asymmetrical with a thicker thread texture. The reverse side shows a classic "theater-made" mess of bobbin threads without any plastic or glue backing, and the edges are hand-folded.
-
Uniform Removed Condition: This patch has a history. It was sewn onto a combat shirt (Jungle Fatigue) and later carefully removed. The edges remain folded and creased from its time on the uniform, offering a beautiful "salty" look that modern reproductions simply cannot replicate.
