Original US M1 Helmet "W. Harper" (CW3) | Vietnam Era Rig
Description
A helmet that breathes the history of the jungle.
-
Steel Shell: The M1 steel pot features swivel bales and a rear seam. The interior heat stamp reads "M 51 A", identifying it as a 1960s Vietnam-era production by the McCord Corporation. Retains its textured anti-reflective paint.
-
Fiberglass Liner: Inside is an older, reissued liner from the Korean War. The internal crown is stamped "MICARTA", indicating manufacturing by Westinghouse (1951-1953 contract). It features the correct OD#7 webbing and blackened A-washers. The exterior of the liner has developed an incredible, highly sought-after "crazed" patina due to the aging of the paint and resin.
-
Insignia & Naming: The leather sweatband is clearly named in marker: "W. HARPER.". Pinned to the front of the liner is an original metal rank device – a silver bar with two brown enamel bands. Under the US Army rank system used from 1956 to 1972, this designates a Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3).
-
Condition: Authentic "salty" combat condition. The rig shows honest wear and age from military service but remains structurally sound.
