Extremely Rare Experimental "SPECIAL FORCES" Tab | Color-Matched | Cut Edge
Description
Special Forces history woven into a single arc.
-
An Unauthorized Experiment: Prior to 1983, SF operators officially wore only the "AIRBORNE" tab over their SSI. However, during the Cold War and early Vietnam era, various experimental and local-made "SPECIAL FORCES" tabs were produced. This is a surviving example of those early trials.
-
Color-Matched Design: The tab is specifically designed with a teal background and yellow lettering so it would seamlessly blend with the main arrowhead shield when sewn onto a uniform. This unified design was never mass-issued.
-
Construction & Condition: Textbook mid-century US manufacturing. It features an un-merrowed flat edge (Cut Edge) that shows light fraying from actual period uniform use, and a classic white return thread ("snowy back") on the reverse. The colors remain vibrant and highly contrasting.
