The Label: Clearly marked "EXPERIMENTAL DESERT UNIFORM" with contract DAAK60-90-C-0102.

Unique Features: The Army was testing faster ways to access gear. This uniform features Velcro strips on the pockets instead of the standard button closures found on mass-issued DBDUs. The fabric is a 50/50 Nylon/Cotton Ripstop Poplin blend, an experiment in durability and breathability.

Combat History: The uniform tells a story. It was worn by a "Tropic Lightning" (25th ID) soldier serving as a peacekeeper with the MFO (Multinational Force & Observers) in the Sinai Peninsula – a known testing ground for desert warfare equipment prior to Desert Storm.
