During the early days of the War in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom), elite units like the Green Berets, Navy SEALs, and CIA Ground Branch ditched their heavy, uncomfortable standard-issue packs for top-tier civilian mountaineering gear (known as COTS - Commercial Off-The-Shelf). This specific pack was sourced directly from a US Army Green Beret veteran. It is in nice, field-used condition with all zippers and buckles fully functional. A holy grail piece for early GWOT reenactors and "operator" gear collectors!

The COTS Phenomenon: During the initial invasion of Afghanistan, Special Operations Forces realized that military packs were inadequate for long-range dismounted patrols at high altitudes. They privately purchased civilian packs, with the Gregory Shasta being one of the absolute favorites.
Design & Build: Built bomb-proof. Features a massive capacity (approx. 5000+ cubic inches / 85L) with top-loading and large front panel access.
Superior Suspension: The heavily padded back panel, shoulder straps, and massive hip belt provided load-carrying comfort that was lightyears ahead of military issue ALICE or early MOLLE systems.
Provenance & Condition: Sourced from a US Special Forces veteran. It shows honest field use and a great authentic patina, but no fatal tears or damage. All zippers run smoothly. Ready for your next mission or GWOT display.
