Correctly identified as the "Sleeping Bag, Wool" (Mummy Type). Unlike the earlier rectangular M-1938 bags, this bag features a tapered mummy shape and a center zipper closure. It was designed to be inserted into the M-1949 Mountain Sleeping Bag shell for extreme cold weather or used alone in milder conditions.

Condition Report: This is a vintage item with visible damage. The wool fabric has several small holes (likely moth or wear) and one larger tear (see photos). It is sold as-is, perfect for a restoration project or for repurposing the high-quality vintage wool.
