Rare Early WWII US M1938 Dispatch / Map Case | Zippered | Named Lt. Clark
Description
A rare find for the advanced collector. This is the early production M1938 Dispatch Case, commonly used by officers for maps and orders.
-
Rare Configuration: Unlike common later war examples, this early model features a zippered document compartment. Zippers were prone to failure in the field (especially in the Pacific) and were quickly eliminated from production, making surviving examples scarce.
-
Interior: Retains the original green felt divider intended for map pins.
-
Provenance: clearly named on the front flap to "LT. J. H. CLARK".
-
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The canvas is strong, and the zipper appears functional. Includes the correct adjustable shoulder strap.
