USMC Paramarines Uniform, utility, HBT, Camouflage (Parachutist)
Description
We present to you the absolute collector's highlight in the field of American paratrooper uniforms from World War II. This original camouflage jacket was developed specifically for the elite USMC Paramarines. It is a very specific piece of equipment that was worn as a base layer under a second type (camouflaged) parachute jacket.
Historical context: From the Pacific to Indochina Although this uniform was primarily intended for American marines in the Pacific, its story continued after 1945. After the end of World War II, the US provided a large number of these camouflage uniforms (Frog Skin / Duck Hunter pattern) to allied France. This type of jacket and camouflage thus found its way into the equipment of the legendary French paratroopers (TAP) and Foreign Legion units (1er and 2e BEP) during the war in Indochina. For many soldiers fighting in the jungles of Vietnam, these American "surplus" uniforms became an iconic symbol of the early stages of the conflict.
