USGI WWII Packboard Cargo Attachment | Treated Canvas | Medic / Mountain Gear
Description
The essential accessory for the Plywood Packboard. This represents the Cargo Attachment, a large sack designed to convert a standard load-carrying board into a rucksack.
-
Material: Constructed from heavy-duty Cotton Duck Canvas. The fabric features the original military water/mildew resistant impregnation, which has aged to create a stiff, marbled patina. This is the classic treated canvas, not rubberized fabric.
-
History: While packboards were designed for ammo crates and jerry cans, this bag allowed troops (especially Medics) to carry soft goods, blankets, and loose supplies securely.
-
Features: Complete with all original cotton webbing straps and blackened metal tips for securing the bag to the packboard frame.
-
Condition: Used surplus. The canvas is stiff and shows honest age-related wear but is structurally sound.
