Original WWII US M3 Trench Knife (Utica) w/ M8A1 Scabbard | Guard Marked
Description
Steel that saw heavy action in Europe.
-
Utica Maker: Utica Cutlery Company was an official wartime contractor for the M3, a knife issued to troops without bayonets, heavily favoring Airborne and Ranger units.
-
Guard Marked Detail: The "U.S. M3 / UTICA" stamping is located on the crossguard, a change implemented in 1944 to prevent blade snapping. The pommel bears the standard Ordnance flaming bomb.
-
"Salty" Condition: This knife has clearly been there and done that. The blade has lost its finish and displays clear marks of period field sharpening. The stacked leather handle is heavily darkened, worn smooth, and shows superficial cracking, but remains solid.
-
M8A1 Scabbard & Details: Includes the historically correct M8A1 scabbard with the M1910 wire hanger. The back of the fiberglass body shows the "VP 31" mark for Victory Plastics. It also features the original leather thong used by paratroopers to tie the sheath to their leg.
