Original US M1 Helmet Liner (Firestone) | Factory M1C Conversion (Rigger Mod)
Description
Authentic airborne history with an excellent pedigree.
-
The Factory Conversion: Due to extreme shortages of airborne helmets in late WWII and through the Korean War, the US Government contracted select companies (like Firestone) to convert standard infantry liners. Often colloquially called "Rigger modified" by collectors, these factory conversions feature the webbing 'A' straps professionally riveted underneath the original A-washers, along with the addition of internal para snaps.
-
Manufacturer: High-pressure composite construction. The inner crown clearly displays the molded Firestone logo (an "F" inside a shield) and mold number 51.
-
Personalization: The inner rim features the hand-painted name "HERMAN CURRY" along with the number "15523523", offering an incredible opportunity to research the soldier's service record.
-
Condition & Details: The front features a distinct "rank hole", typically used for pinning officer insignia. The exterior Olive Drab paint shows honest combat wear and patina. The internal HBT webbing suspension is in solid condition (leather chin cup and sweatband not included).
