Original WWII 4th Infantry Division "Ivy" Patch | Cut Edge
Description
The first ashore at Utah Beach.
-
Unit History: The 4th Infantry Division, led by Gen. Theodore Roosevelt Jr., assaulted Utah Beach on June 6, 1944. They were the first Allied troops to enter Paris and later fought in some of the most grueling campaigns in Europe, including the Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge.
-
Design: The patch features four green ivy leaves on a khaki diamond background. The design is a clever play on words, as the roman numeral for four is "I-V" (Ivy).
-
WWII Construction: This piece exhibits standard 1940s production hallmarks: fully machine-embroidered, a flat un-merrowed "Cut Edge," and the heavily sought-after white return thread ("snowy back") on the reverse.
-
Condition: Lightly used. Shows minor edge fraying consistent with being removed from a period uniform, giving it a fantastic "been there" combat look. Colors are vibrant.
