Original WWII 38th Infantry Division "Cyclone" Patch | Cut Edge
Description
The Cyclone that swept through the Pacific.
-
Unit History: Deployed to the Pacific Theater, the 38th Infantry Division played a crucial role in the Philippines campaign. Their fierce fighting on the Bataan Peninsula earned them the nickname "The Avengers of Bataan" from General Douglas MacArthur himself.
-
Design: The patch features a spade/shield shape divided into blue and red halves. The white center monogram spells "CY," representing their primary nickname, the "Cyclone Division".
-
WWII Construction: This piece exhibits standard 1940s production hallmarks: fully machine-embroidered, a flat un-merrowed "Cut Edge," and the highly desirable white return thread ("snowy back") on the reverse.
-
Condition: "Uniform Removed." The slightly frayed and folded edges indicate this patch was genuinely sewn onto a soldier's tunic and later removed. This wear adds incredible character that collectors love.
