Original WWII USMC Camillus Fighting Knife (Blade-Marked) | Repaired Sheath
Description
A knife that wrote US Marine Corps history.
-
Rare Blade-Marked Version: In the early stages of WWII (until roughly 1943), makers stamped their names directly onto the blade ricasso. One side reads "CAMILLUS, N.Y.", the other "U.S.M.C.". The military later ordered stamps to be moved to the guard. These early blade-marked examples are much rarer and highly sought after by collectors.
-
Knife Condition: The blade is in exceptionally nice condition. It shows no signs of harsh sharpening, no edge damage or teeth, just a gorgeous natural patina. The stacked leather handle is tight, and the pinned pommel is secure.
-
Honest Sheath Repair: The knife comes with its original leather scabbard, which has seen a field or post-war repair. The original retention strap likely broke and was replaced with a strip of sturdy black leather fastened by two civilian snaps. This adds a tremendous amount of character and uniqueness to the rig.
