WWII USMC Winter Overcoat | 6th Marine Division | Dated 1942-43 | Mint Condition
Description
A centerpiece for any Pacific Theater collection. This is an original USMC Winter Service Overcoat attributed to a Marine of the 6th Marine Division, famous for their role in the Battle of Okinawa.

Insignia: The left shoulder features a vibrant, fully embroidered 6th Marine Division patch with the "Melanesia Micronesia Orient" scroll and the "Striking Sixth" sword. Sleeves bear the red chevron of a Private First Class (PFC).

Markings: The lining is crisply stamped "QUARTERMASTER'S DEPT. U.S. MARINE CORPS 1942-43"along with the size 2-S.

Condition: Near Mint / Excellent. The heavy Forest Green kersey wool is remarkably preserved with no obvious moth tracking or holes. The lining is spotless. Often these coats are found heavily worn; this one is a gem.
