Vintage US Army M1916 Leather Holster (Colt 1911) | GI Field Repaired
Description
A holster with incredible character that clearly saw action.
-
The Front: Heavy dark brown leather featuring the iconic embossed "US" in an oval. The brass closure stud is secure.
-
The Back (Field Mods): The original leather hanger point tore, so a GI used heavy cord to stitch the M1910 wire hanger back onto the holster. Additionally, two vertical slits were field-cut directly into the back to allow wear on a standard trouser belt.
-
Markings: The inside of the flap shows a faded manufacturer oval and a black ink stamp reading G.B.S (likely the soldier's initials).
-
Condition: "Salty" and combat-worn. The leather has scuffs and the aforementioned field repairs, but remains solid for display.
