An authentic, combat-used U.S. Military M1916 leather holster for the Colt M1911/1911A1 .45 caliber pistol. This piece features incredible "trench modifications": the M1910 wire belt hanger has been crudely but effectively re-stitched in the field, and two vertical slits were cut to accommodate a trouser belt. Inner flap features faded maker marks and the stencil "G.B.S". A true "salty" piece of GI history.

Description

A holster with incredible character that clearly saw action.

  • The Front: Heavy dark brown leather featuring the iconic embossed "US" in an oval. The brass closure stud is secure.

  • The Back (Field Mods): The original leather hanger point tore, so a GI used heavy cord to stitch the M1910 wire hanger back onto the holster. Additionally, two vertical slits were field-cut directly into the back to allow wear on a standard trouser belt.

  • Markings: The inside of the flap shows a faded manufacturer oval and a black ink stamp reading G.B.S (likely the soldier's initials).

  • Condition: "Salty" and combat-worn. The leather has scuffs and the aforementioned field repairs, but remains solid for display.
