WWII U.S. Army Waterproof Rifle Cover (Invasion Bag) | 1943 Dated | NOS
Description
A crucial piece of kit for any WWII amphibious assault display.
-
Function: Made of early Pliofilm/cellophane-type material, these flexible bags kept the soldier's primary weapon dry during landing operations. They were designed so a GI could fire straight through the bag if ambushed on the beach.
-
Markings: Features a remarkably clear purple stencil reading: "COVER, WATERPROOF, RIFLE", along with "P.Q.D. No 377", "Dated August 27, 1943", and "Philadelphia Q.M. Depot".
-
Condition: Unissued / NOS. The bag is still in its original factory fold. The material remains pliable, which is rare for these over 80-year-old plastic items.
