Description
An authentic piece of "Doughboy" field gear. This is the Model 1910 Meat Can, the standard issue mess kit for US troops during the First World War.

Markings: The handle features a crisp stamp: U.S. / T.J.W.B. CO. / 1918.

Construction: Typical WWI construction featuring an aluminum pan and lid with a plated steel handle. (Later WWII versions switched to stainless steel).

Condition: Salty / Field Used. The steel handle shows oxidation and age-related patina. The aluminum surfaces show scratching and wear consistent with frontline use over a century ago. There appears to be some faint soldier art/initials scratched into the lid.
