Original US M5A1 Bayonet (MILPAR) for M1 Garand w/ M8A1 Scabbard (2)
Description
Cold War steel that belongs in every serious collection.
-
The M5A1 History: Introduced in 1953 during the Korean War, the M5 series replaced the cumbersome 10-inch M1 bayonets. It features a unique mounting system: instead of a muzzle ring, it utilizes a stud that locks directly into the M1 Garand's gas cylinder lock screw.
-
The Bayonet: Manufactured by Columbus Milpar & Mfg. Co. (marked "MILPAR COL" on the crossguard). The blade is in unissued condition, showing no signs of sharpening or field use. The checkered black plastic grips are pristine.
-
The Scabbard: Includes the standard fiberglass M8A1 scabbard with the wire hanger for pistol belts. This specific scabbard is stamped "USM8A1 P.W.H.". Unlike the bayonet, the scabbard shows honest field wear, adding great authentic character to the set.
