Description

The Advanced Combat Helmet (A.C.H.) was introduced by the United States Army in the early 2000s to replace the legacy PASGT helmet system. The ACH design features a raised brow line without a brim to enhance upward field of vision and reduced side coverage to accommodate active communication headsets and NVG mounts.

Historical Context and Provenance MSA (Mine Safety Appliances) was a primary defense contractor supplying official ACH units to the US Department of Defense. This helmet originates from contract W911QY-05-D-0002 (dated to 2005). Sourced from a private military collection specializing in modern US military combat equipment.

Specific Details, Markings, and Material Condition

  • Shell: Aramid ballistic shell finished in factory textured Foliage Green paint. Pre-drilled with a single central front hole for mounting standard NVG shrouds.

  • Retention System & Hardware: Equipped with a standard 4-point chinstrap system. Internal attachment screws and washers display minor surface oxidation/rust.

  • Interior Pads: Internal Velcro disc grid remains intact. Includes a set of 3/4" Advanced Combat Helmet pads (NSN: 8470-01-546-6358). The pads are in poor condition—showing fabric delamination, foam deterioration, and heavy wear, requiring replacement by the collector.
