Hand-Forged Knife from Praga V3S Spring | Historic Leather Handle | Hamon
Description
Complete your collection with this exceptional piece by a phenomenal (anonymous) Czech blacksmith. This knife shares identical proportions with our previous mirror set, forming a unique "Holy Trinity" together. The blade is forged from superb 14260 carbon steel, specifically sourced from a leaf spring of the legendary Praga V3S utility truck. This history-rich material has been given a second breath and a precise flat grind. The blade features a differential heat treatment creating a Hamon—the lighter edge is hardened to a solid 57 - 58 HRC, while the darker spine remains extremely tough to prevent breakage. The edge is hand-sharpened on diamond stones to 24 degrees. The centerpiece is the stacked leather handle made from an old historic drive belt. It is carefully treated with linseed oil and impregnated with a beeswax and lanolin paste for a perfect, warm grip and unmatched patina. The guard and pommel are crafted from hammered, fire-patinated structural steel. The assembly is completely uncompromising: a full through-tang that is pinned, peened over the pommel, and sealed with epoxy. The knife comes with a hand-stitched right-handed leather sheathmade from massive dyed cowhide. Note: This is high-carbon, "living steel". The blade will develop a beautiful authentic patina over time and requires occasional oiling—slicing some good salami is the perfect maintenance!
