Hand-Forged Damascus Knife Bowie | Unique Historic Leather Belt Handle | Massive | #2
Description
A truly exceptional piece for lovers of top-tier knife making and historic materials. This massive, hand-forged Bowie-style custom knife comes from the workshop of a renowned, anonymous master blacksmith. The impressive blade, measuring 210 mm in length and 5.5 mm at the spine, is forged from stunning pattern-welded Damascus steel, combining ČSN 19418 carbon tool steel and premium Swedish Uddeholm 75ni8 steel. The blade is heat-treated and tempered to an uncompromising 61-62 HRC, featuring a flat grind and a razor-sharp 23-degree edge bevel. The absolute unique feature is the handle, which is crafted from layered leather from an old, historic drive belt. This material, treated with linseed oil, gives the knife incredible patina, history, and a perfect, non-slip grip. The guard and pommel are made of hammered, fire-patinated structural steel. The knife boasts an incredibly strong construction: a through-tang that is pinned, peened over the pommel at the end, and firmly secured with epoxy. It comes with a heavy-duty, hand-stitched sheath made from high-quality dyed cowhide. Note for aficionados: This is high-carbon, so-called "living steel" (non-stainless). The blade will develop a beautiful authentic patina over time and requires occasional oiling.
