Originální nášivka US Army Corporal of Ordnance | 1905-1908
Description
Pristine American military history from the early 20th century.
-
Historical Context: Following the 1902 uniform regulations, the US Army transitioned to Olive Drab uniforms. This specific style of chevron, incorporating the branch insignia directly beneath the rank, is characteristic of the 1905-1908 pre-WWI period.
-
Design & Symbolism: The two applied chevrons denote the rank of Corporal. Beneath them is the "Shell and Flame" (or Flaming Bomb), the historic insignia of the Ordnance Corps, embroidered in a rich copper/brown thread.
-
Construction: The base is a thick, high-quality olive drab wool felt. The reverse side shows the period-correct manufacturing technique: the chevrons are stitched on, while the bomb motif is embroidered directly through the wool.
-
Condition: Mint / Excellent Antique Condition. The wool is completely free of moth nips, tracking, or fraying. The embroidery is tight and vibrant. Surviving in this condition is exceedingly rare.
