This specialized heavy-duty outerwear was developed for military dispatch riders, reconnaissance motorcyclists (operating Jawa 350 motorcycles), and convoy couriers within the Warsaw Pact-era Czechoslovak Armed Forces. Designed to be worn over the standard field uniform, it provided complete barrier protection against driving wind, rain, and road spray.

Historical Context and Build Czechoslovak rubberized dispatch suits are quintessential examples of Cold War military motorized gear. The garment features an oversized functional cut intended to block incoming wind gusts during high-speed transit.

Specific Details, Features, and Condition

  • Fabric: Heavy-duty woven cotton canvas backed with an impermeable rubberized coating in desert/sand khaki.

  • Front Closure & Collar: Full-front protective storm flap secured with heavy metal snap fasteners; high stand collar with an adjustable throat latch for tight weather sealing.

  • Pockets & Reinforcements: Two expansive horizontal chest cargo pockets with snap flaps, reinforced elbow sections, adjustable snap-closure cuffs, and metal underarm ventilation grommets.

  • Property Stamp: Clear black ink military property marking stamped inside the collar: Size 2B, crossed swords insignia, and date 80 (1980).

  • Condition: Unissued "New Old Stock" (NOS) surplus. Due to natural rubber aging over four decades, the fabric has stiffened and hardened. A small stress puncture/hole is present along one of the side fold creases (visible in close-up photo). Recommended primarily for static military displays, mannequins, and vintage motorcycle collectors.
