US M1 Helmet Cover Rip-Stop | Sterile / Unmarked | Atypical | Unissued
Description
An interesting variation for the dedicated helmet collector. Standard M1 covers were made of heavy cotton duck. This unique piece features Rip-Stop construction, bridging the gap between the M1 and the later PASGT era.
-
Material: Rip-Stop Poplin. This makes the cover significantly lighter and faster-drying than the standard issue heavy cotton version.
-
Markings: Sterile / Unmarked. The lack of DLA/DSA contract stamps suggests this was either a private purchase item sold in military PX stores for soldiers who wanted better gear, or part of a foreign military assistance contract.
