Garcia Survival Knife – Vietnam Era – Made in Brazil – Randall 18 Alternative

  • 1 of 19

A distinct piece of Vietnam War era cutlery history: The Garcia Survival Knife. Manufactured in Brazil, this knife was produced as a lighter, more accessible successor to the Finnish Hackman Survival Knife, filling the void left by the scarcity of the Randall Model 18. It features a 3/16" stainless steel blade and a hollow, waterproof handle designed to store survival essentials like matches, hooks, or pills. Clearly marked with the Garcia logo and "BRAZIL". Comes with the original leather sheath.

The "Budget Randall" that served in the jungle.

  • Lineage: Designed by Ken Warner and Pete Dickey. When Hackman (Finland) ceased production, Garcia moved manufacturing to Brazil using a slightly lighter blade profile.

  • Features: The defining feature is the hollow tube handle accessible via a screw-off pommel cap, famously used by GIs for survival kits or other "necessities."

  • Sheath: Original leather sheath with a front pouch for a sharpening stone/compass, stamped BRAZIL on the back.
